First Post: Expectations

What are your expectations of me as your teacher? What can I do to help you succeed? If you need help brainstorming, think back to a teacher you had who inspired and challenged you. How did this teacher help you find success?

I've had teachers who focused on structure and not creativity and teachers who encouraged creativity but didn't have a lot of consistency and structure. I'd just ask for half and half so I don't slack but can also enjoy the class.

For this year I really hope to find a balance of fun and learning. For me, I'm not very strong in english, however if I am having fun I have noticed that I will work harder and do my best.

My expectations for you as my teacher is to teach me something I didnt already know and challenge me. English is a class that comes easy to me and I rarely have to study. I have had more coaches then teachers who have inspired me. My shotput coach challenges me all the time. Every meet he helps me beat my goal and he also believes in me and my ability to throw far. So baically all you need to do is belive in me and set up obstacles I can beat. Also we need to have lots of parties and nap time. We should be able to sit by our friends and play lots of games!

An expectation of you as a teacher to me would be to make the learning interesting but to get the point across. Make it fresh and new. A way you can help me succeed would be just to help if i require it, or to be there as a good source like helping understand certain concepts etc... A teacher i had known that helped me succeed was one with a creative and compelling learning style that kept me occupied and helped me develop note taking skills etc...

The expectations that I have for this class is to have a teacher who does challenege us to see our full potential, but to also be there anytime and happy to help; i.e. explain thins, give examples of their opinions on essays, papers, etc. Anything that would be helpful. Also, A teacher who does have a structure to follow. That would also be very helpful.

My expectations for you and american lit is to not make class a class that i dred coming to for it to be easier for me to learn it has to be exciting and something that i actually want to learn and talk about instead of being forced to like something. So my biggest expectation for you is to just make class fun and a good learning enviorment for everyone.

My expectations for a teacher in general is to teach in innovative ways. I hate classes where the teacher talks all class ,piles us with notes and preaches there opinions onto me. I want to formulate my own opinion based on the things you've taught me. I also like doing things where we're not in our seats the entire time, I like working in groups and hearing others ideas.

This year I hope that I can learn more about how I can use technolgy with my school work. I would also like the class to be interesting, but fun at the same time. I am not a strong writer and I hope this class will help me with that.

I hope that you teach me something that I can apply to the real world. Also I hope that the activites we do keep me up out of my desk and occupied. As in regards to my first comment I am sorry I can't type. I hope to have a great year and learn alot.

This year I would like class to be challenged inside the classroom through discussions and class activities. I like when teacher's get the entire class involved in discussions or let students make commentary. I also enjoy the less structured class rooms. I understand that there have to be rules, but I like when a class feels comfortable in their enviroment so I want to feel like I can make a comment or have some imput on any topic we are discussing. I don't like boring busy-work, but I like when assignments make me think outside of the box.

I hope that in this class we can do things in creative ways, that aren't just listening to the teacher the whole time, but getting everyone involved and in a fun learning space. Being pushed to my limit would also help me succeed because I'd realize that I've got that potential.

This year I want the class to be challenging but also fun. I've had many classes that just dragged on and were fustrating. The teacher just stated things so they could understand it and wouldn't explain it to the students. I would like a teacher that is willing to help and makes it easier for the student to understand the concepts.

My expectations for you is to just teach what you need to teach me and help me when I need it. Yes, I say just teach me very lightly. What I mean is that I want you to teach me material so I can retain the information. I don't want to have what you say go in one ear and out the other. It's hard for me to do assignments in a class like American Lit because I do have dyslexia so my reading is much, much slower than most. I have to work twice as hard to understand what we are reading. But as long as you help me when I don't understand like some of my previous teachers have, then that is all I can ask for.

Teachers in the past that i have been successful with new the limits of the students and pushed them just beyond that, but not to hard that they loose interest. there was not an incredible amount of work and it was reasonable

My expectation for you as a teacher is to help me improve on the skills i already have. I need a teacher that uses a variety of different teaching methods and does't stick to just one way of teaching things. Things that are importent to know needs to be gone over more then once in class to make sure it is understood.

I would benifit from this class if we related things to the real world because then I can understand things better by relating them to my life. Also, I would really like to be chanllenged this year in english and really improve my skills in reading and writing. This year will be fun!!! :)

I have had teachers in the past who except late work for full credit and teachers who also don’t except any late work at all without taking points off. I liked the teachers who didn’t except late work for full credit I think it makes me a better student because I know I have to do this assignment or else my grade will suffer. I also have had teachers who really walk you through how to do an assignment and I think that gets boring and it’s nice to experiment on your own sometimes with how an assignment should look, because when we leave high school our college professors are not going to walk us through every assignment.

A teacher that is exited to teach is one that makes the students feel that it is fun to learn. excitement is a big factor as well as the fun way it is taught. getting us involeved makes the difference.

My expectations for you as a teacher would be to push me to new limits. Make me think of different ways to approach my writing or reading. For me I need to find a new routine for my reading, I seem to find myself behind on reading. This year I have purchased my own books, so I hope that will help me with my annotations this year. I believe that this year will be difficult, but I want to pass this class, so that it helps me in the future! I would also love to do group activities and be able to work with everyone in my new class on creative projects, whether it’s acting or coloring! :)
