What About A Reading Project...

Share your thoughts on what to do with your independent reading books in a comment to this post. The project/paper/whatever must meet these three criteria:

1. Must relate the book to your personal philosophy statement
2. Must show that you read the book thoughtfully
3. Must use the Wikispace somehow

Leave your thoughts – Honestly, what do you want to do?

Possible ideas:
-Summary-Response paper
-Individual presentations on your own book
-Drawing, film, photo story, etc.
-Create a piece of poetry and post it onto the WWW
-Write a book review for the newspaper
-Your own ideas…you are creative people…What do you want to do with your independent reading books?

I don't know if I speak for any other students, but writing paper after paper in English class gets pretty dull. Creative ideas would definitely be welcomed. I think that the list is pretty good. If students chose what they want to do as an individual, it would be fun to see a variety of projects. A presentation might be nice, so we can understand what each student read about. Choosing your own creative idea would be my option.

I agree with eva i think that we should beable to choose our own projects because if people want to present then they are welcome to choosing something to present. I dont really like presenting in fron of the class so this wouldn't be something that i would choose. I like the poem idea personally. I'm good at poetry and i like writing poetrty. its what i do in my free time. And then We could post whatever we decided to choose onto our wikispaces. Thats just my proposal

I don't know if we are suppose to say what we think the whole class should do or what we are just thinking about doing for our project, but if we are leaving our thoughts on what the whole class should do then I agree with Eva and Ciara. I think that we should choose our own creative way to sum up our personal philosophy/book project thing. What I am personally thinking about doing is maybe a painting/drawing and my own short story that goes along with the painting and the whole idea of my personal philosophy and my book.

I would agree with the other girls. I think coming up with our own creative ideas for this project would be a good idea. I think a photo story would be fun for me to do and incorporate the main theme in the story to my photo story. I want to kind of have the freedom to do whatever.

I don't know what to do. It should involve a paper because papers are boring and mundane. I think we should do a pictures with music as the background. Almost like a photostory.

I like the idea that everyone agrees with! I'm not big on presenting but if some people want to present i think that's wonderful. I'm pretty good with anything but i would really like all of us to individually choose sort of like how we did it with the social projects.

I agree with everyone else, I think that if we all come up with creative ideas that work best for each one of us then we will have a good variety of projects. I personally like the idea a creating a photo story or something like that.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. Being allowed to think of our own project expands our creativity and makes it easier on us. If we had to do just one assignment I would choose to do a photo story. Photos can say alot and don't always have to be presented in front of the class.

I think that we should do a project that involves making a slide show or photostory out of what our book was about, what we learned and how it related to our personal philosophy statments. We could then post these on our wikispaces and people in the class could make comments about them.

I think that we should do a project that portrays what we learned or something that is creative because personally I get a little bored with writing essays. Maybe a poster board or like powerpoint.

I think we should do a photostory that relates to our book. We could put music in the background that relates to the book and also have some dialogue and talk about the book.

I think it would be great if everyone could pick their own ideas and ways of presenting. I'm not big on presenting but I understand some people really enjoy it. I also agree with Eva that it would be fun to see everyone do something different, and it would certainly create diversity so things wouldn't get dull. I personally would love to do something a long the lines of a photostory for my project. That way I could incorporate my photography and what not. I think whatever works best for everyone individually is the way to go.

I think that each person should be able to choose the project they want to to, so there is room for creativity. We could submit the ideas we want for our personal project and get them approved by Mrs. Leclaire. That way everyone wont be doing the same project.

I think that the video or photostory would be a fun way to finish up a reading project.

I agree with Eva i think the list you have now is good and each students should be able to pick one idea from the list so that there is a varitie of different projects.

I like hilarysidea about the photostory, I did one in freshman year and it came out pretty good, also it would be fun finding music and photos that describe our book and phylosophy, plus you can add naration to explain it all. Or any project thats along those lines just some thing simple that has meaning to it.

I believe that we should try to pick out our own project to do at the end of our reading. Kind of like our social change projects. Maybe you can have a list of about five options for us to choose from so we don't disagree on anything. Either way we do it, I agree with everyone else when they say we should not write a paper. It gets boring.

I think that if we have to do an essay or a writing assignment because that would ruin the reading for me.

I agree with the general photo story idea. I have enjoyed putting together photostories in the past.

i think we should create some type of visual like a poster board, and then also have a written veiw too. Simular to everyone elses ideas.

I think we should all be able to choose our own way to present our books because we all read and comprehend books differently. I really like the idea of a newspaper review because I feel like with a newspaper I could be really creative and put some things in their about my book in a newspaper style. I just think its a really creative idea that will express the book in a number of ways.
